that THURSDAY's cover is better than the original by NEGATIVE APPROACH. seriously, it's hard to top possibly the greatest hardcore band ever, but they do it here in my opinion.
p.s. I FUCKING HATE THURSDAY!!!

maybe it's just the fact that they add a breakdown and completely alter an already great song. i remember telling everyone how much i hated that cover a few years ago, so i'm sure i'll be denying i ever said this in a month.

wow. i have to disagree, man. i thought that was terrible. but i guess i'm a bit more biased towards negative approach. i have a weird thursday phase, though. eh, different strokes, different folks. what if the strokes covered infest? brrrrooooooo...

what if the strokes covered infest? brrrrooooooo... i think i would be torn between vomiting and crying. then maybe a little laughter. but then again who would've seen the sonic youth cover of the teen idles song "nic fit" coming either?

I thought "Nic Fit" was Untouchables.

Hm... On a similar train of thought, I heard a bunch of "metalcore" bands were going to be covering Black Flag, Minor Threat, GI and others for some video game soundtracks. Sounds like it's going to be horrible. I didn't know Black Flag cared about wearing tight jeans and being "xMoSh MeTal MoShx" or whatever. Eh, I think I'll stop now because this target is too easy.

God, imagine a "chugga-chugga" version of "Rise Above".

I think From Autumn to Ashes are covering Fear or something... I don't know, I find it hilarious, and kind of scary that good bands are having their works twisted around by these guys who obviously don't have the same thing in mind. Worth looking into if you like metalcore/nu-screamo I guess.

Worth looking into if you like metalcore/nu-screamo I guess. i'm still not clear on what old screamo is. no one has ever explained it to me. i've heard orchid is screamo. i've heard the blood brothers are screamo. i've even heard guyana punchline are screamo. was i in a screamo band? what the fuck is going on here?!

FALL OUT BOY is supposedly covering "Start Today" by GORILLA BISCUITS for Tony Hawk 4 soundtrack, but i guess this isn't that surprising due to the fact that FALL OUT BOY is ex-members of RACE TRAITOR.
p.s. i think that THE STROKES covering INFEST would be a great idea, or better yet, some one should put out a tribute ep where all these mtv garage bands cover songs from the "mankind" e.p.

Old screamo is hard to classify... Some of the bands sound like power-violence, some sound like grind, others sound not that different from the crap that's become popular today. I think it has more to do with having emotional/witty/"advanced"/pretentious lyrics... And I guess screaming ties it all together. It's supposed to be a combo of "post-hardcore" emo and thrash (I think).
I like some of it, but a lot of it sucks, and that's not even counting the MTV "screamo" bands, which all suck.

i like alot of the old screamo bands: HEROIN, ANGELHAIR ("pregnant with the senior class" is one of the best discographys ever), and early gravity records bands in general.
if you want to know what screamo is, look into gravity records. that's where it started.
