What was everybody doing today (the 25th) last year?
I keep journals so I can go back and see, it's really fun. I think today last year I just went to work and then hung out at Perkins all night afterwards. Nothing special, but it is weird to remember how you felt or etc. Maybe this is a dumb post but I just wanted to know if anybody else knew but me.

Page, I'm insane about keeping a journal and obsessive about checking back on what I was doing this time last year, five years ago, ten years ago. I didn't really think anyone thought about that but me.
October something, 2004: I went to Walmart (!!!) to get two axes to compliment my kids' costumes, which were both Paul Bunyan. (The only thing about either of their costumes that actually resembled Paul Bunyan were the axes, incedentally.) I ate Huevos a la Mexicana at Taqueria Mexico with my friend, and I finished reading Canetti's Auto-da-fe, which ended up being one of my favorite books.

I was getting fuckin hyped about the election. I didn't like Kerry, but I was sure that if Bush won, there was gonna be riots.
Well, looks like I was wrong. It was funny because my then-friends and I went around stealing 'Merican flags and election signs, planning to burn them in the impending chaos of the looming revolution. Then we just kinda copped out and burned them on a baseball field or something lame.
I also was planning on going to the Halloween show. I remember the pigs coming and crampin' style. I remember my friend in Minneapolis telling me that never happened up there.

two years ago, ad astra carved a bunch of pumpkins for our halloween show. so the week before halloween was mostly spent carving. the day after halloween i drove to wichita to see my friends katie and alex get married.
last year, around midnight on halloween, i played the national anthem, dressed as jimi hendrix at the stray cat during ad astra's set. i don't know if people were drunk, or if it was because it was only a few days before the election, but it seemed like some folks went nuts during that. it was one of my favorite shows ever.

i think i'm going to see mike relm and glue at the granada on halloween this year. i don't really want to be in lawrence for halloween, but dj relm's doing a dvdj routine... meaning he'll be scratching and mixing with dvds, music videos and movies and such, and there'll be a big screen and everything.
he's already among my favorite djs, so i expect it to be dazzling.
i just said dazzling.
