What's the deal with this band? They were kinda industrial music from NYC, right? I've heard stories of their sound system being so loud it broke windows in clubs they played.

well, they started out as crazy super-confrontational punk/noise/goth stuff. imagine early sonic youth only way angrier and louder, and slower. then they kinda mellowed out and got a little more melodic, and now dude (michael gira) is doing this angels of light shit, which is some really pretty folk dirges and the like. it's all pretty dark stuff, though.
