What's your favorite format?
I have to go with records. They have more inserts, lyric sheets are bigger and easier to read. Plus I think they're just more fun.
I'm going with NASA on this one. When they shot a time capsule into space they sent a record of speeches and music because it was the msot itme enduring format.
What do you think?

In order of preference:
1. Record 2. Tape 3. CD
I like records, and I like the possibilities of mix tapes. CD's are good for reissues and discographies...

1 record 2 tapes 3 mp3 4 cd...
i hate cds... they get scratched way too easily, they are small and light so they just end up getting tossed somewhere and then they're done for. tapes are great cause you can grind it on the sidewalk and it still will play megadeth. plus i like the asthetic of a cassette tape cover. records though, there's nothing like listening to an actual record. it's more of an event, not a big extravagant event, but an event nonetheless. with a cd you're like, mech i'm going to skip to track 8, then listen to 10 seconds of number4 then blah blah.... but, at least for me, with a record there is no skipping, sre you can if you want, but put a record on and listen till it stops. it's too easy to skip around with cds, thus you miss the theme, point, and movement of the record start to finish. also yeah, cover art and inserts are way better with records, and you get posters a lot.

i like cds because they are more portable. like you cant carry records around. plus records (7"s specifically) can only hold like 4 or 5 songs unless your like anal cunt or something. cds can hold more than an hour

for my listening pleasure, i like records and tapes. i get too finnicky with any other format and tend to listen to missy elliot on single repeat without ever listening to whole albums.
for sharing though, i prefer cd's. i've been through too many goddamn tape decks. i'm also obsessive compulsive about certain things (no, really obsessive compulsive-- the artists' names have to be of equal or comparable length.) and itunes allows me to be as obsessive compulsive as i want.
edit: i made three posts today-- one that mentioned missy elliot, the other than mentioned destiny's child, and the third that admitted i was watching room raiders. i'm not disqualified or anything, am i?

dont worry flannery. i had to make some phones calls....but everything's cool. youre still punk. well at least for now.... just DONT FUCK UP again.
anyway...
these days im into cds. easy to make mixes and copies for others. also mp3 cds are a beautiful thing.
then id go with mp3, then record, then tape.
really when it comes down to it. i really dont give a fuck. as long as the music is still there. ultimately thats what i care about. i understand how amazing artwork can be and all the stuff mentioned. but really i dont give a fuck... if its good....ill listen to it wax cylinder if i have to.

dear sir laszlo,
i feel compelled to concur with your statement regarding the value of content over format.
if it's good i'd listen to it on my butt.

i like cassettes because i the first punk records i ever got were all but one on cassette. they were: Descendents - Bonus Fat, NoMeansNo - Why Do They Call Me Mr. Happy?, DK - In God We Trust INC., and Frankenchrist which was on CD but was technically my first punk record. and tapes fit in your palm and awesome demo tapes from high school bands come in limited supply on cassettes with five minutes of music and forty minutes of silence per side.
