I used to not like this for some reason. "Blah, Blah, Blah" "Afraid of Being Wrong" "Everything Falls Apart" "Target" All winners, man. The guitar solo on "Everything..." is ridiculous. Randomly: I once saw Husker Du bassist Greg Norton in the 23rd street Dillon's in Lawrence. I'm NOT kidding. Unless it was some sort of punk celebrity impersonator, it had to be Norton. He still had a handle bar mustache and was wearing a Black Flag t-shirt. I didn't talk to him.

always bringing up the good stuff.
all of those songs rule, you are correct. but the best husker du song (unless your brain is made of cardboard) is "in a free land" hands down, but then again i suppose that song isn't on the LP.

Yeah, yeah, the band is just weird cause they have awesome songs, but they're mixed up between hard to find early stuff and the larger later catalog. Honestly, I think I like about one song per side of "Zen Arcade", but those few songs are the best songs ever written. The band would be best presented in the form of a mix tape. I think.

Wait, "Land Speed Record" is still in print on SST. It's one of their first records.

My favorite songs from the records I've heard.
"In a Free Land" - M.I.C.
"Everything Falls Apart" - Blah Blah Blah, Afraid of Being Wrong, Everything Falls Apart, Target
"Metal Circus" - Real World, It's Not Funny Anymore
"Zen Arcade" - Something I Learned Today, I'll Never Forget You, Pink Turns to Blue, Newest Industry
I haven't heard "Land Speed Record" or anything after "Zen Arcade".

I think I'll have almost completely agree with your picks.
Except I'd pick "In a Free Land" over "MIC." Don't get me wrong MIC rules but Free Land is just the epitome of what's great about the band, it's mid paced, driving punk with hoarse vocals, great backups, melodic while still powerful and hard hitting.
Metal Circus: I agree on the same songs but would add "Deadly Skies" that song shreds. It's one of those rare songs that sounds powerful and hard as hell without really being that fast. It's kind of that rare form mastered by the Bad Brains on their mid paced early tracks.
After Zen Arcade: there's a few good tracks on Flip Your Wig. New Day Rising is about the same. And there's one good track on Warehouse Songs but the rest is mostly melodic rock stuff that kind of went toward defining the early alterna-rock sound.
Candy Apple Grey is just kind of crap as far as I remember. The last time I heard it was about five years ago and I've never been inclined to listen to it again.
