On one hand, it blows that one of the greatest early LA scene bands (hardcore or not, they still have to have some of the best lyrics to ever come out of punk) is going to get maligned and reduced to a trendy phenom.
On the other hand, if you already like the Germs, who gives a fuck? I like the original Germs... a band that released one of the worst-quality singles ever and one my favorite LP's. It's not like I give a crap about Pat Smear or any of them post-Germs. I won't go see this movie and I'll keep liking the Germs for what they are to me, not what this movie is probably going to try to present them as (the wildest punx band EVAR with a SUPER PUNX voxalizt who committed SUICIDE, which is way KEWL).

the germs (GI) record was one of the first punk records i ever heard and liked so its always had a special place for me. i'd be amazed if the movie isn't dumb but then again what punk rock movie isn't.
as far as all the 70's rock on the soundtrack it makes sense, that's what most of the first punks were listening to at the time. around then the stooges, mc5, and bowie were some of the most "wild" bands on the planet. and it's hard to even think of it now where there's thousands of punk records coming out every year but by early 77 you could easily own every punk record on the planet and not be able to fill one box. crazy.
it would be sweet though to take over the tivoli when it premieres.

oh yeah, i forgot to mention, i read somewhere that the band The Bronx will be playing Black Flag in the movie. and i think a couple of other bands are appearing as not themselves. should be interesting.

this could be a good gateway movie for some kids, i'd think.
either that or avril lavigne is about to start wearing a germs shirt with the sleeves cut off. anyway, i'll go see this with some other people who know it's kind of bullshit

i don't know much about the germs. so, i might see this, and then probably form my opinion based on the movie like the tool i tend to be.

that's total crap. i'd go just to throw trash at em or something. if that's true they're playing warped tour with a scab vocalist that's the lamest thing i've ever heard in my life. darby crash was the germs, the rest of the people hardly mattered aside from maybe pat.
would anyone bother to go see the ramones with an actor instead of joey?
i mean come on, that's the kinda crap that bands like lynard skynard do. not punk bands.
i think i'm gonna puke.
