He was big into FSU and something like Team Loco. It's only interesting because it's getting a lot of publicity placed on "hardcore." www.tucsoncitizen.com/news/local/120805a1_skrappysI don't know anything about metalcore or the whole gangsta-core scene, but it seems kind of obvious that clambering together in the thug cliques and gangs is as anti-progressive as you can get. I hope there are no idiots like this in Kansas City. -Will

i heard about this deal, sad. seems like maybe too many of these kids watched that boston beatdown deal and for some reason thought that was cool.
maybe someone should encourage them to play extreme sports instead.

it's fucking pathetic. I've gone to two different fests where shit has been shut down by people in FSU - one time it dealt with dudes in Shattered Realm who played that show in Tucson. Fucking asshole boneheads. I heard the dude who got shot was going after the other guy in his car and he had a machaete - so i guess that could be considered self defense....
I can garuntee there are no idiot crews in KC - the kids here are super nice and very very very anti volence.
This is all fucking bullshit - i hate FSU - there is no place for Gangs in hardcore.
there are very few people in KC who would support FSU.

here in chicago there's a big problem with "punk" gangs. a friend of mine got the shit kicked out of him the other day at this party we went to. seriously, these dudes have nothing to do with punk. they're not involved in the scene or anything, they're just rich kids who play dress up and go around fucking up people's apartments and smashing bottles on peoples' faces. but, punk or not, they are still around and still shitheads. gangs are for stupid, stupid people.

I don't know... At DIY/Punk shows, I've never had any problems with idiot drama (not that I've been to all that many). One time I went to a metalcore show with Page and the band made fun of me from the stage for having long hair. I think that kind of sums it up for that sort of scenes' mentality- Gangs and "beatdowns" are the next logical step with those sort of people. Oh well. Let'em kill each other off. Not anyone's fault but their own that they choose to go through life like in all their gym-clothed, piss-contest glory!

I admire your logic Will but still...
You don't beat up anyone for being gay you dont' beat up anyone for being black you don't beat up anyone for being a woman you don't beat up anyone ever!
Ian Mackaye may be too old for that whole straight edge thing, but he's definitely smarter than any of those redneck straight edgers who got lost in the minutiae of their soapbox. Stupid apes.

I meant that those things are the next step for them... I don't believe in fighting. Violence scares me and probably most everyone, including most of the kids who try to "represent." Once in a while you get some idiots who are too dumb to not knock the crap outta each other- what I was saying is, let them. I don't want anyone to ever get hurt, but when these idiots choose to lead an idiot lifestyle and wind up either in the hospital or in jail, that's no one's fault but their own. For cliquey, judgemental a-holes like some I know of in the metalcore scene, gang violence is the next step.

please dont throw all hardcore kids in that whole group of mindless jock assholes... because if so you're calling me one of them and i highly disagree with that statement.
it's also like anytime FSU doesn't cause a huge fight at a show it's like "oh they arn't so bad - they're nice guys!" which is also complete bullshit.
urg, i hate being associated as a hardcore kid with those mongrels.
