i hear ya tuley.
for me summer is energy, insane hardcore feels the best when the sun is out and everything is alive and green. that's when i'm amped.
fall is when i pull out the fugazi, joy division, early-period cure, jawbreaker, etc and put them in heavier rotation. when it starts getting cold and miserable is when the mood strikes for those most.
though i still listen to hardcore year round.

lately melt-banana -- cell-scape fugazi -- red medicine and the argument, i can't believe i forgot about this band for three years bad brains -- black dots refused -- shape of punk to come g-funk from ten years ago yeah yeah yeahs -- fuck y'all nico -- the marble index
i can only listen to hardcore at night, usually. during winter helps. sad and simple in the fall (velvet underground), sad and optimistic in the spring. anything in winter as long as it's indoors and doesn't pretend as if things are OK. grim and minimalistic is better as it gets colder and darker. liars are good for that. during the summer i feel insane and desperate and can hardly deal with music, let alone something like dystopia. that's when really absurd shit like blood brothers and snoop dogg are at their most appealing. and tom waits.

oxes - first LP germs - discography memento mori - doscography (GREAT fall weather...nothin like perfect harmonizing guitars while the leaves are falling) fugazi - in on the kill taker (my personal favorite fugazi) karst - 'vision of insane hope' LP (witch metal...singer from damad...duh) beastie boys - 'paul's boutique' LP the red scare - 'strangers die everyday' and 'capillary lockdown' LPs ('strangers' is perfect winter music and 'capillary' turns out to be great summer music...for me anyways) I-70 series demo Dick Cheneys Dick untitled album

You met my brother (kid with a grey hoodie.) Do they still have DIY shows in Auburn? not really......honestly, the last show i saw there was xbxrx's supposed last show back in February 2002 before they made their comeback. there used to be this venue there ran by a creepy old guy, but i'm not sure it is still open.

Listening to:
...myself read Lemony Snicket's The Slippery Slope (book 10!) out loud so that we can be through all 11 books by the time book 12 comes out in mid-October. ...Brian Wilson - Smile (this shit is crazy!) ...Harry Smith's Anthology of American Folk Music. ...Townes Van Zandt - Live at the Old Quarter. ...that confounded Yamaha portasound keyboard. ...my neighbor asking me if I want a bong hit even though I have never partaken of his pot, and don't ever smoke period for that matter, which I've told him repeatedly. ...Adam Green's song about Bluebirds that isn't very good but sticks in my head anyway.
Guess who's not a punk?
