remember those guys? they were like the inevitable cartoon stepchildren of hardcore. i remembered them because i live with two clevelanders and they're always talking up their hometown. i realized that this is what we have over them: One Life Crew has never been from kansas city. they have always been from cleveland, though.

also, GORDON SOLIE MOTHERFUCKERS! they had members of 9 SHOCKS TERROR, but sounded like more traditional hardcore (i.e. NEGATIVE APPROACH/POISON IDEA) instead of the obvious japanese hardcore sound of 9 SHOCKS TERROR.

p.s. "attack with a gas mask" gives me road rage. such a great song, and the mr. rogers intro makes it even better.

p.p.s. the SURF NAZIS MUST DIE song "i am angry" is inspired by that mr. rogers intro.

I found a pretty interesting interview with Mean Steve from OLC in this old 90s zine i have. it's pretty interesting because he talks about being multi-racial and such, but we have all heard the Chubby Fresh phone calls with Karl from EARTH CRISIS where he basically admits to them being a white power band. i thought it was weird. also, does anyone have a link to the website where you can download the Chubby Fresh phone calls?

p.s. is it true that CHARLES BRONSON got beat up in cleveland for playing the song "One Life Crew Goes on Slimfast"? I've always wondered if this were a rumor or not.

oh dang. cleveland! being from there i did experience my share of this nonsense. the ultimate was when i attended an earth crisis show at a place called Peabody's Downunder, and this mega-gang of OLC dudes showed up. I mean like the BIGGEST motherfuckers youve ever seen wearing OLC gear, you know hoodies and all that. In between ever EC song these guys would just be trying to pick fights with Karl and all that. Well toward the end EC started a song and the OLC dudes rushed the stage. One guy got Karl by the shirt collar and some bouncers got up there to break it up. one of my friends was trying to stage dive at the same time and the bass player smashed him in the head with his axe making my friend bleed all over the place. it was total chaos. obviusly the show ended after that. that was sort of the peak of what i experienced and the whole thing sort of died off after all that. obviously some knuckle heads are still into it, but 99% of the town this they're the biggest assholes/joke/blackeye the towns HC scene ever had.
